Prejudice in America?

How do you feel about the following statement that O'Brien makes to Steve on page 78-79 of Monster? O'Brien tells Steve, "Half of those jurors, no matter what they said when we questioned them when we picked the jury, believed you were guilty the moment they laid eyes on you. You're young, you're black, and you're on trial. What else do they need to know?"

Monster, My Life

The task is to explain the theme of your life. You can either do it through a stated type of response, where you tell us the reader, the theme and provide examples of the theme to support it. If you are up for a challenge you can use the implied theme, by providing us with events from your life that would explain to us the reader the theme you are thinking in your mind. You need to choose only one of these responses NOT BOTH either stated or implied. Good Luck, looking forward to your responses. Also use your juror log-in for everything you respond to on this blog.

Monster by Walter Dean Myers

Is it fair that Steve Harmon is on trial for murder when,
#1 The only role he had was to walk into the store and check to see that the store was empty.
#2 None of the witnesses have yet to identify Steve as being involved in the crime.
